Letter to Sponsors

Dear Potential Sponsor,

We cordially invite you to participate in our inaugural circumnavigation of Vancouver Island. This is a unique rally composed of both power and sail boats. Our challenge will be to stay together, which is fitting, because while one of our goals is to encourage crews and boats of different sizes, experience and abilities to enjoy a first-ever, world class adventure, our primary intent is community building.

Our immediate community is in Lighthouse Country, which extends from Qualicum to the Comox Valley, but this is an opportunity to target a much larger audience. 18 boats from 25-40 feet in length provide more than just a traveling billboard for advertisements that will be viewed by communities, cruiseships, aircraft and other boats along the way: the composition of our fleet, the idea of inclusive community-building and the growing public awareness of environmental, economic and social issues facing BC at large and the coast in particular ensures ongoing media coverage.

Corporate and individual sponsors will also receive a film credit, and can benefit from product placement in a wilderness adventure movie being made of Around Together. The young, independent film-maker from Vancouver who will accompany us on the voyage has already begun documenting our Research & Development program.

Enroute, the scenic beauty and dramatic action involved affords advertisers a unique opportunity for location shooting of existing or newly created corporate and product promotion campaigns. You or your representatives are welcome to discuss requirements and determine rendezvous points for fly- or drive-in production units.

Following the trip, we intend to screen the movie at lectures for interested clubs or organizations throughout the province, play it during local membership drives and community displays welcoming newcomers to the region, and make it available to community TV stations and tourism/educational programs. We also anticipate magazine coverage beyond traditional yachting industry publications to provide a wider demographic for our sponsors.

So we would be pleased to welcome you aboard in any way you consider appropriate to your business and budget.

Thank you for your consideration.
